While a few Chinese smartphone manufacturers are catering to anime fans by launching Neon Genesis Evangelion and One Piece-themed versions of their devices, Samsung has teamed up with K-pop sensation BTS to launch new BTS-themed versions of its flagship Galaxy S20+ and the Galaxy Buds+. We first got a look at the new BTS Edition Galaxy devices earlier this month when XDA Editor-in-Chief Mishaal Rahman and XDA TV Video Producer Max Weinbach shared renders of the devices over on Twitter.
At the time, we had reason to believe that the BTS-themed Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy Buds+ would be launched on July 7th. However, Samsung has now officially unveiled the devices and they will go on sale in several markets around the world, starting from July 9th. According to a recent update on Samsung Newsroom, the Galaxy Buds+ BTS Edition will be available for pre-order from June 15th, exclusively on Weverse, while the Galaxy S2o+ 5G BTS Edition, Galaxy S20+ BTS Edition, and the Galaxy Buds+ BTS Edition will be available for pre-order on Samsung.com from June 19th.
On the surface, the Galaxy S20+ 5G BTS Edition and Galaxy S20 BTS Edition have received a new purple paint-job, which looks quite a lot like the purple color variant of the Galaxy Z Flip. In terms of software, the devices include pre-installed BTS-inspired themes and a fan community platform, Weverse. The devices also get BTS-themed packaging, decorative stickers, and photo cards featuring pictures of the band members.
Similarly, the Galaxy Buds+ BTS Edition gets a purple paint job, along with the brand’s logo and purple heart iconography. Much like the smartphones, the BTS-themed TWS earphones will come with BTS-themed packaging and photo cards of the band members in the box.
In a statement regarding the new product lineup, Stephanie Choi, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Marketing Team of the Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics, was quoted saying, “Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy Buds+ BTS Edition are the result of a collaboration between BTS, whose members spread messages of love and harmony through music, and Samsung, which is creating a better future with meaningful innovation. We hope it will be a source of joy and entertainment for fans and consumers around the world.”
The Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy Buds+ BTS Edition will go on sale starting from July 9th, which marks the seventh anniversary of the BTS fan collective. As of now, we don’t have information regarding the pricing and regional availability of the devices.
